Write Your Own Letter: Terror is finally Defined
Fight against global terror has been hampered by lack of a generally accepted definition of terror. "Political correctness" says sometimes that 'one man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter'. Isn't it non-sense that somebody can call freedom fighters the Palestinian gunmen who in a roadside ambush stopped and killed at point-blank range Tali Hatueli (32) and her four little daughters aged 2 to 11? The Arafat regime did call them "the best of our sons".
But now there is an official UN definition coming! The Kofi Annan-appointed panel says:
"Terrorism is an action that is intended to cause death or serious bodily harm to civilians or noncombatants when the purpose of such act, by its nature or context, is to intimidate a population or to compel a government or an international organization to do or abstain from doing any act" - and it goes on to say: "there is nothing in the fact of occupation that justifies the targeting and killing of civilians"
(See the original report at: http://www.un.org/secureworld/report3.pdf , pp. 51-52, paras 157-164.)
Write your letter and use this new definition of terror in every case -and there are too many - when terrorists according to this definition are called by different white-washing names in the media or by politicians, like: "activists", "militants" or else.
